The Pipes

The Uilleann pipes originally known as Union Pipes are the traditional bagpipe of Ireland. The pipes are inflated by means of a small set of bellows strapped around the waist and right arm. The pipes are distinguished by their soft tone and wide range of notes. The chanter is the part the piper is holding in his hands and upon which the melody is played.
Davy Spillane, Seamus Ennis and Liam Óg O'Flynn are renowned exponents of this instrument
